Here is a little tattoo I did today, it is my interpretation of an Ernst Haekel drawing of an octopus, i have to apologise for the quality of my photograph, it was late and there was no available light, when it heals i shall have a good picture.
Again its been a crazy week, working non-stop………………….. I’m at the end of a day 12 week.
It has been great though, I have had the good fortune to start and finish some amazing pieces of work, and on Thursday night i saw The Grails play live, it was mind blowing and so inspiring!
The Grails hail from Portland Oregon, they continue to one of my favourite bands and constantly impress and inspire me.
This week has been so busy! I cant even think, we have had lots of old friends from all over the world visiting this week, its been great. I have also tattooed non-stop…………… !
Here are some Tattoos that I have enjoyed this past week.
An old 19th century rendition of a Smith and Wesson revolver…….
detail……..
I finished my friend Danny’s front and filled in every remaining space on Bens hand, it was great to see them both and I am extremely grateful they came all the way from England to visit!
This month will see the release of Twilight Ritual, an album by Deadbird from Fayetteville, Arkansas.
This record is going to be one of my favourites. The few songs they have on there myspace http://www.myspace.com/deadbird inspired me alot over this past weekend.
As I sit here procrastinating about drawing my tattoos for the day I have deiced to distract my self and show you some pictures of Ryan’s chest i started on Monday, I am very pleased with it. This coming week is going to be very productive so I should have some good postings on here.
On another topic, my good friend’s the Randolph family are having some tough times as there son Golden has had to undergo chemotherapy again, you can read more here.
Also Golden has a new friend Luca who could also use some support and donations.
You can donate to them directly through there websites, they have a tough road ahead of them so i am sure any help and support is more than welcome.
Good god, it has been a very long time since i updated on here.
Its been a month since i last posted any new work up on here, so expect some new offerings over the next few days…………………..
i wont title anything i will just leave the descriptions to your own imaginations.
I am going to be working at the nyc tattoo convention this weekend and will have some new stuff available, if your in the area please come and say hello.
So it has been a long time since my last post. This month was a tough one, but i still managed to work, work, work.
So many things have happened and i have been out of touch with keeping the page updated.
Firstly I want to thank everyone who left tributes to our good friend Jason Saga, it has been wonderful to see so much love for him. I will leave those posts and comments up here so people can continue to see what a great person he was to so many people and hopefully wherever Jason is now he can feel the love that his family and friends have for him, he will be truly missed by more people thank he could of ever imagined.
Secondly I want to thank everyone who came out to support the Stay Golden Benefit art show we put on, so many people came out and spent so much money, we raised more than we thought possible and touched the hearts of Bryan, Jen and Golden Randolph with so much love and generosity towards them
. They have had a really tough time with Golden’s disease and told my wife and I ” last week we had money problems, this week thanks to the benefit we don’t” Golden is one rich little man.
With all that has been going on i didn’t have time to place any posts on here.
But i have been working alot, here is a little sample of what i have been doing over the last month, ill start off with the paintings i did for Stay Golden.
Jason and Xed working alongside each other at Into You.
Jason and his colleagues from Into You.
This is a comment Xed left on one of my posts, i found it very moving so i thought i would post it here for all to read.
From Xed Le Head.
I have had the privilege of working with Jason for the last five years,
in the very next workstation to his…………..
right now its full of flowers and tributes,
but really its a void…………………
he was one of the few who liked me singing
as i do, all the fucking time………….
so much i want to say
but the words fail me now………….the funeral was yesterday and i will use the lyrics of
‘I Can See You’ by Neurosis
from the album
The Eye Of Every Storm
it describes my feelings
far better than i could ever put into prose
here goes………….I Can See You.Did you see your people
They all turned out for you
We were all together
Not so long agoIn the shadows we can see you
In the wind we hear your laugh
When the light reclaimed you
We were left clawing at the sky
In the oceans we can find you
For the sun we praise your name
In the dirt we pray for God
To bring you back again
And bring you back again
I can see you…. i can see you…….
In the void the stones are turning
And turning and turning and turning…………..
I can see you…… i can see you…………………….
……………………………………………………………
peace and love to everyone……..
the tattoo world has suffered a great loss
i am consoled by the thought
that he now dines at the table
of The Tattoo God himself………..
rest in peace jay,
i am gonna miss you
deeply…………………
For many years Jason Saga has been and will continue to be one of my favourite tattooers, his gentle spirit and cheeky demeanor always made getting tattooed and working with him a great pleasure.
I have over 40 hours of work from Jason on my back, it is and always will be my favourite tattoo. And I am proud to be among the other thousands of people who also carry Jason’s art on their skin.
My experiences with Jason have taught me to have a strength, patience and courage within life and tattooing, he was always someone I considered a peer and who’s advice I took with the upmost sincerity. Yet as serious as he could be about tattooing, he would always have a smile on his face, he would always be able to make you laugh and he was always the source of light where ever he was.
I hope that he finds peace and that the love everyone has for him the world over gives him strength, like he gave so many of us in our lives with him.
My heart goes out to his family and his wife, he was a true friend and great man, I am proud to have known him and considered him a friend.
Jason’s spirit and art will live forever in our hearts and on our skin.
I still cant believe Jason is no longer with us. It has been really amazing to see how many people have been on here to leave messages and to mark his passing. I want to thank you all for sharing your feelings and memories of him on here, I originally posted some pictures of him, to just honour his memory and my friendship with him. But as more people leave messages and I find the occasional picture of him i keeping adding to whats on here, so if anyone wants to share a memory of Jason on here you can email it to me at, hooperselectric@gmail.com and if you have any photos you would like to see posted on here of him please feel free to email them to me.
Jason will live forever in our memories and on our skin.

Some very sad news, an amazing tattooist and person Jason Saga has passed away, he was a good friend to alot of people. Jason worked at IntoYou in London, he was very talented and inspiring. Undoubtedly one of England’s top Tattooists.
My heart goes out to his family, he will be missed by alot of people.
So it has been a whole ten days since I last updated HoopersElectric i have been working alot, but haven’t been taking to many pictures as I am just about to finish some larger pieces so ill have some new pictures and maybe a new gallery up very soon. I have also been working on the ‘Stay Golden’ benefit project for my colleague Bryan Randolph, its basically a set of flash from over 40 different artists and an exhibition to sell the original paintings from the set. There will be more info on this up here soon, but for now click on this link to see why we are helping Bryan’s son Golden.
